Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt prepared to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, adding that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive put a embargo on the cases to prohibit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the killings, public figures offered different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial claims that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the detractors last week. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and implied they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an aide could have acted when the choice to speak on the death was made.
